    1. My husband has sciatica and cannot bend. We have a trash box on the counter so he can use without bending. I get you.

    2. The laundry thing is probably only like that for women. But your plan everyone should wash his own laundry I find super. My nephew has parental leave and Henri is 1 year old. He says I can’t do the laundry too. As a woman, you can’t think of anything else.

  6. The chore(s) I find most challenging are focused around cleaning. I don’t know if there is a word for it, but I am the opposite of a clean freak. I do think that it’s a problem, not only for me personally but also for my household. My husband is definitely a much more organized person who keeps his surroundings clean. I, on the other hand, am not bothered by the absence of cleanliness.

  10. I thought writing for this prompt was easy. I even felt a sense of relief as I poured my woes about the chores that I find most challenging. Yet, I feel that there is something more to it.

  14. # 12: What chore do I find the most challenging to do?

Routine tasks — chores — are like breathing. I just do them. They are not challenging mentally or physically (yet).

But at age 73, I do find swinging a machete to chop back the blackberries challenging due to the arthritis in my right shoulder, but using a good weedeater with a saw blade on it works just fine, and I find great satisfaction in destroying those persistent buggers.

But it’s those big tasks that occur infrequently that can feel daunting to start — like pressure washing a house to prepare for painting, or even just the painting, for that matter; like raking up the leaves from giant maples and alders when they’re sodden and rainsoaked; like deep cleaning cupboards and storage spaces that have been tossed by use and disorganized additions for months; like cleaning out the sheep barn; like doing a dump run of the accumulated things that would not fit in a garbage can for months on end; like making a dentist appointment to get my teeth cleaned. At the top of the list, though, probably the biggest one, is doing my taxes, as, having been self-employed my whole life, it’s way more tedious than just submitting a 1040 with a W-2 form.

  22. I don’t feel the need to write an entire blog post about this topic so i’ll just respond here 🙂
I don’t really find any chore challenging because I enjoy cleaning and organizing. Its therapeutic for me. When I’m stressed, my home usually reflects that so when I want to get myself in order– I clean. The tougher the job the better and the more accomplished I feel!

I’m really enjoying #bloganuary its setting me up for a successful year of blogging! Cheers to everyone!

  24. I’ve written a wrap-up post for the week’s prompts and as I answered today’s prompt of ‘challenging chores’, I remembered the time from 2012, when Jan Hastings the ‘Iron Lady of Tumbarumba’ attempted a Guinness World Record of ironing non-stop. I was involved in keeping track of the hours, such a huge effort from her! My post is here: https://debs-world.com/2023/01/13/exploring-joy-week-2-of-bloganuary/
